Broken chain on new bike + damaged derailleur

I got a Commencal combi dlx roughly a month ago, yesterday the chain snapped after about the 6th time out. Unfortunately it somehow bent the rear derailleur out, not to mention the nice slashes I now have up my legs from slipping off the pedals + a broken helmet.
Do I have any chance of getting a new chain and derailleur from either the retailer or manufacturer?
The chain is a Shimano hg73.

Contact them, though it is difficult to tell what caused the chain to snap as can be many reasons.
You will need to check the mech hanger too.0 -

I think the mech hanger looked ok.
The retailer hasn't replied to my email yet, but their site doesn't even mention a guarantee.
I'm not sure of the policy on this forum regarding naming retailers, so I'll just say that they are named after a wizard who lived in Camelot, currently a crap drama on the BBC.0 -

All resolved now, I ended up buying a better chain. Our wizardly bike retailer are replacing the derailleur FOC and a chain as good will.
