I'm Irish but looks like Wales will run away with it.0

Wales are looking good!0

Wales FTW
france and Ireland to slug it out for the minor places
Hopefully england can beat scotland and Italy fo fourth.
Italy fifth
and the sweaties for the wooden spoon0 -
England!!!!
I also beleive in Santa Claus!!!!!"BEER" Proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy0 -
Methinks the Scots might win the Calcutta Cup (again). Och aye the noo!I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks0
-
As long as we take the Calcutta cup its okay...
Last years campaign was obviously a resounding success.I'm left handed, if that matters.0 -
I've got to say Wales, though France are rarely predictable...0
-
On current form I would have to say Wales, though you can never rule out France.
I was not impressed with Scotland or Ireland in the Autumn and cannot see them improving much to be honest.
England are another matter.
Martin Johnson will be livid about how crap they were and I would be amazed if he does not improve things quite fast, if not he will be sacked!!
I am sure people will say he can only work with the players he's got, but last year many were saying how many of the England players were going to be in the Lions team!! Hmm.
Well England have some good players, but just not perforomng well. If you have a decent back three, back row and half backs your nearly there.
England have a couple of good wingers, just not playing lol and decent fullback and good back row.
The big mistake I see is the halfbacks. Cipriani may have potential but he has believed all the hype. He is not the brightest spark in the bunch is he but he was put in way to soon after coming back. One big problem he has is his lack of awareness of time and space. He is ok going forward but in defence has no idea of time. How many times as he been charged down? It was like watching in slow motion as he prepared to kick, he is way too slow. This should be instinctive, he sort of stops and thinks about his kick.
The scrum half is also way over rated. After the Islanders game there was talk of him being Lions No9, come on get real, one game against mediocre opponents and he is best in Britain?
He was really shown up in next 3 games. England must hope Ellis get fitness back as he is looking a bit tubby currently but is a good No9.
Hopefully they will not sort out the halfbacks before Wales beat them0 -
How can we sort out Flood and Cipriani in 3 months - not going to happen unfortunatly. Hopefully this may have given Cipriani a K up the A though!! We still lack the inventiveness between the scrum and the backs though
Agree with your assessment of Danny Care through - We need Harry back quickly!!
I think Martin J needs to swing his weight around the RFU more too nad get rid of some of the "old boys club" dead wood thats dragging it downWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Much as I'd love it to be Scotland - I think wales are looking good, and are a joy to watch so i wouldn't be unhappy if it were them.
haven't seen france in action... but then you never can predict them (if only they would bering back chabal who is also a joy to watch)blog: bellevedere0 -
Ddraver, England still have a decent pack so if Flood and Cipriani cannot perform with that platfrom they never will. Look at what Johnathan Davies and Neil Jenkins had to play behind
I would stick Hodgson in as a stop gap.0 -
Wales, but they will struggle. Scotland second, France or Ireland Third, Italy still playing for Wooden spoon. England might surprise but they have a lotta work to do. methinks big Martin is thinking world cup rather than six nations. Calcutta Cup will go to Gwyr y Gogledd.fay ce que voudres0

If Wales won it without a struggle, it'd lose all the fun!
I'm still trying to persuade my other half that an ideal valentine's day would be watching Wales v England in Cardiff...
P.S. 'Gwyr y Gogledd', isn't that the new fifth rugby region for Wales? :P0 -
I think its going to be depressing viewing for England fans. Wales will hammer us in Cardiff on current form and we'd stand a good chance of being beaten by everyone else, except Italy. I've not seen France recently but I can see Wales strolling to another Grand Slam. I wouldn't bet against it.
Johnson is going to have to watch his back if he has a poor 6N. Although I think its all the other members of the coaching staff that need looking at. Wales is a good example of what can be achieved with a good tight knit coaching team pulling in the same direction. Results come fast.0 -

True enough - I'm fed up of the england team being a "work in progress"!!!!
And you are wise in many respects OWM but hodgson has no place in that team, It ain't gonna happen overnight unfortunatly but its time to let Flood and Cipirani learn from their mistakes so we have to keep them there, although it will be painfull for the next year
I think the "old boys club" is the major problem unfortunatly, not unlike BCF was all those years ago....I think some outside help is neccesary too - again - look at the Welsh!!!We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence
- @ddraver0 -
On current form Flood has to get the nod. The real problem is the lack of experience in the backs with no one to give guidance to the youngsters, thats where Catt would have been good and where Will Greenwood did well in the past.
The trouble with Cipraini is that whilst confidence is good to have, he is currently over confident and needs to perform the basics of no10 first. Maybe throw him in at centre?
Whats happened to Lewsay and Simpson Daniel? Simpson Daniel is the closest England have to Shane Williams. I do not rate Sackey at all, he is too one dimensional. Cannot beat a man one on one either.
I agree get rid of the old codgers in suits, the WRU is the same .0 -
Italy might be the sneaky dark horses......I have been amazed at their improvement every year since joining the nations......
Scotland for the win!!! (ok probably wales)......
If france play to their potential........likewise england on paper are strong....but playing as a team....not so much.
Scotland for the calcutta cup......by 1 point.....no tries, all penalty kicks.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.
H.G. Wells.0 -
I don't think Johnson is the answer anyway to be honest. First top job is for the National Team!? What better way to scupper someones reputation in the game with all that distance to fall. He seems to be revered in England just because he was a no nonsense man mountain with a granite forehead. But like Woodward said...you need to be able to play chess aswell. Maybe thats being a bit harsh, as he is a clever fella too but I'd prefer it if he had a bit of experience under his belt first.0

Trouble is, people say that every year and they still always end up at the bottom. I do like watching them play though, along with Argentina. Gotta cheer for the underdog!
Personally I'd like to see relegation/promotion in the 6N. I know there's a big gulf between the 6N and the rest of Europe, but the World Cup last year showed that teams like Georgia and Romania can at least avoid 50 points thrashings in every game. If those kinds of teams get a chance in the 6N, then it'll only help get rugby union a bigger profile in those countries.0 -
cee wrote:Scotland for the calcutta cup......by 1 point.....no tries, all penalty kicks.
If there are no tries, then penalty kicks and drop goals mean that each team's score is going to increase in threes, so they can't be within a point of each other. Five points for a penalty try could do it, though.0 -

Of course if you get a penalty try and miss the conversion, your kicker is retarded.....Penalty tries are normally always 7pts.0 -
Canada showed that Wales don't yet possess the necessary strength in depth to be a cert for the 6N. So long as the Jones/Henson and Roberts/Shanks axis is fit, and that the Jones/Powell/Williams back row is not crocked then we should be ok. J Thomas shold be back fit, and wyn Jones is a developing very nicely, but its a thin veneer.....0

Maybe he just meant no tries for Scotland - y'know, as per usual0 -
Come on Wales!!!!0

We don't wanna be your enemy,
But when we're on the field,
It's red, white and green,
Get beat by the Irish,
Get beat by the Scots,
The French ought'ta struggle,
But you're the one we want,
We want...
As long as we beat the English,
As long as we beat the English,
As long as we beat the English, we don't care
