Are there reliable statistics on the number of bikes purchased, on user demographics and number and distance of bike trips?

Who is counting how many times I go out on my bike ( oh sorry, I'd forgotten that spy camera outside my door and the state secret police who follow me :twisted: )

Are any statistics reliable? They are just guess work for this sort of figure
