Signature character limit

When editing your signature it says that max character limit is 255.
But I've got this message above: Your signature is too long.
So I've copied the whole text from the box, into Word and pressed "Word count".
It said that there are 215 characters including spaces. Just in case I've counted my self again.
So what is the problem?
Now it's 208 and it's OK. I'm very confused. :?

By starting at the beginning of your sig, and counting how many times I pressed the side arrow until I came to the end it was over 250.0

Because I see this and it's 211 characters long +/-1 (that's how may times I pressed the arrow space).

No, the euro symbol looks totally different when I go into admin and look ath you sig, definitely over 250 characters.0

Maybe I'll cnage the loading bar with pound simbols in the future. 0
