Hey all, im looking for riders in or around York to hook up with as getting boring riding on my own and i like to progress my riding skills and its better to learn of others, i mostly ride local as i dont have a car which is a pian and love to go places like morrs dalby and many many other places to ride. i ride mostly freeriding and trails and for next year want to get into DH too. I ride a HT at mo which i custom built for freeriding etc.
So any one like to hook up please let me know im always out and about what ever the weather but at the mo its just weekends as working long hrs during the week upto xmas
I don't have a bike addiction problem.....bikes seems to have a problem with me.....it just can't seem to stay on.

  • Try Clifton Cyle Club, they have an mtb group who ride regularly. Try their website - http://www.cliftoncc.org/static.php?content=links.

I've ridden with them a few times and the rides are generally social rather than racey.

    :)

  • Hi matey,
I'm from York and very new to the whole scene. Where abouts do you tend to go? I've mainly been to Dalby .

Being new I'm always a bit wary of riding with new people as I dont know if I'll end up slowing them down. There are a few groups who ride at my work but not dared venture out with them.
  • Hi Capt Yeti,

I joined Clifton Cycle Club last year after I moved to York and it was the best thing I ever did (re cycling!).

The majority of its members are indeed roadies (nowt wrong there mind you) but there must be at least 30 mountain bikers, all of varying ages and ability. There's usually a big club ride once a month and most weekends a few peeps get together for a ride of their own devising. Every now and then someone will organize a weekend away to Wales or Scotland. Its mainly XC like trail centre red and black routes or natural trails around the moors etc.

Everyone in the club is really nice and the rides and weekends away have a cool, friendly vibe (lots of cooking and beers post ride!). I've made some really good friends. If you're ever struggling physically or mechanically on a ride we'll stop till you/the bike is ok so no one should be worried about not being able to join in. We ride coz thats what we love doing, its never a race.

Have a look at our forum and come along on the next ride. I personally guarantee that you wont regret it!

Hi Kris998 sorry took awhile to reply been busy with work and stuff. Well at mo just locat trails i find around York as i dont have a car yet! so i ride about mostly finding what there is to ride and have bit fun in between im wanting to get too Dalby and other place soon though. I used to go xc alot in 90s as was in a bike club once apon a time. are you newish to MTB? dont worry, What do you ride mostly dosnt matter to me ad dont ever worry about slowing ppl down if friendly they will wait ahead as like said was in a club and went in moors some went ahead but waited for break some where so long as we all knew where we was going. So if like go for local blast or anywhere PM me take it from there :D
