HI All
I am not that new to cycling but have had some time off ( well 10 years ) and got a road bike with old Veloce STI shifter on.

As I dont know much about them and have read on here about the way you have to change them ( not sure with way it is ).
Is it to up to back one, as I would like to get it right and know how to shift them properly.

It is funny that it did not take to long to get use to them as I had used down tube ones the last time I was on a road bike

Agree with Stefano, your question is not clear but if I've understood you correctly:

    On r/h lever (rear)
    - push the inner lever in to shift to a larger rear cog (easier gear)
    - depress the thumb release lever to shift to a smaller rear cog (harder gear)

    On l/h lever (front)
    - push the inner lever in to shift to a larger front ring (harder gear)
    - depress the thumb release lever to shift to a smaller front ring (easier gear)

Sorry if it is not clear as I am not sure what I was asking

I have read on here that the old Campagnolo ( spelling is not one of my best and see where I went wrong) gears do not shift by just pushing the levers, as you need to go up a gear to come back down or have I just got it very wrong ( joys of being Dyslexic  )

I think it was about the rear

Thanks for all the great tips on this forum as I have learnt so much since getting back to it :)

You are thinking of gears from the early 1960s. These had no indexing, using a friction lever usually mounted on the down tube. They also did not have ramped cogs to ease changing. You are not likely to come across any of these unless you are looking for them. I soon became natural to 'over shift' to get a good change.
Your Veloce will change just as Bronzie said.

    Thanks All

Now I know I need to sort my rear mech out as it is jumping a little

So I guess the next thing is to try and find out which make it is, as it does not have the makers name on it.
So will be posting pics soon when I get the chance to take some, plus where would be the best place to post them as its not a new bike :?
