Daft Hub Question?

Okay, had a little search and couldn't see if ths has been asked before, but I've just stripped the front hub on the old bike I'm giving some TLC to and have two questions.
1. What's the best way to get the metal seal out; Got the axle, bearings etc out & they're all in damn reasonable nick considering the last time they saw light was over 16 years ago, but to clean the old grease out of the races I really ought to get this seal out.
2. Can I retrofit a rubber seal instead of replacing the metal one when I'm finished. Is it even possible to buy seals?

Nevermind; with the bravado that comes from 20 hours without sleep (and counting) I got my largest screwdriver out & popped them out, intact. Just finished greasing the hubs and new bearings and all seems well0
