Hi all,

I have a hardrock comp disc 08. Only upgrade so far is shimano m647 pedals. I've been offered a rockhopper 07 frame and want to know if it's worth upgradin?. If so will I face any problems changing everything over?
Or would I be better off spending the £80ish on something else :?:

Main use for the bike is XC

Thanks for your help :D

  • The frame is the most important part of any bike. The Rockhopper frame is good and for £80 is very good. Not many worthwhile upgrades you can get for £80 so sounds good.
As for swapping everything over, you'd have no problem, as they are the same size seatpost, BB, etc. I worked for a specailized dealer, so have experience of of these bikes.
Why not use the frame as a chance to build a really nice bike, Thompson, Hope, Chris King, XT kit, etc?

FCN 3 or 4 on road depending on clothing
FCN 8 off road because I'm too old to go racing around.
  • Thanks,

    Sounds like its worth doing.
I was looking at some hayes Strokers trail and sram shifter as the next project. then wait for the drive cain to die and replace with XT

Check the 07 frame carefully - does it have disc mounts? Some didn't!

Most parts should swap straight over, but no hard set rules for this. Be careful with headset and fork steerer length. Cables may need changing too.
  • Yeah it has disc mounts. 1st thing I checked. frame looks in good condition for age few scratched. I'ts the M4 alloy so thought it would be a step up from the A1!
