Fergus the cat has a urinary infection, and lab tests of the urine have found tyrosine present. The vet doesn't know what this means - while he rings round for more info, does anyone out there have any thoughts? Google gave me nothing.

All posts very welcome, poor cat's not a happy camper right now.

  • based on watching house, and a bit of basic biology...

tyrosine is an amino acid, which should be present in small quantities, but if he's told you then it is an unusual amount.

Rickets (vitamin D deficiency) is a possible cause, but I don't think i should really be giving vetinary advice off the back of house and a chemistry degree.

I hope your cat gets better.

It means he's doped, give him a 2 year ban :)

No don't know myself, but hope he gets well soon!
