Watch sealant

OK so this question is somewhat off topic but:-
During my holiday this year I jumped into the swimming pool whist wearing my waterproof watch, I'd been swimming in it for ages with no problem, but I think the impact pressure broke the seal and allowed a little water in.
I stuck it in a drawer and forgot about it, then found it the other week and thought the liquid might have evaporated, put it on and half an hour later the inside of the face was covered in condensation. So I took it apart and allowed the water to evaporate.
I'd quite like to take it back in the pool as it's got a great swimming stopwatch, so I want to know if anyone has any experience of sealing such watches. It's basically a metal plate pushed against a rubber seal, but it'll need some sort of sealant, what to use?
I have some lithium grease (bearing lube) but will that corrode the rubber? I know Vaseline is right out, perhaps KY is the way to go - I'll face down the lady in the chemists shop if I need to.
Recommendations please folks.
Cheers

I'm not sure if they should use anything but the rubber seal. If you want to try something else perhaps some silicone grease might help seat the seal more readily on reassembly.

If it still leaks then the seal is probably permanently damaged, but any high street jeweller that services watches should be able to source a replacement.- - - - - - - - - -

It may be that you just need the back refitting. Having it done by a pro or even the watch maker could make the diffrence. I know my local jeweller is happy to refit the back on my watch but will no garante that it will be water proof and sugests sending it off to be refitted when it need a new battery.0

KY is water soluble, you want silicone lube or silicone grease ideally.0

How about the stuff you put round the side of your bath?0
