Gear and Brake cables

I need to replace the gear and braje cables on my wifes (my old) bike.
I wanna make sure I get the right stuff. Had a look in hellfrauds yesterday and saw they do shimano deore stuff and also another brand that seemed cheaper but was supposed to be premium cables.
The groupset on the bike is 12 year old LX stuff - so not worth spending mega bucks on - but wanna get them working to their best.
So what should I get and where is best place to get them from?
Have had quotes from LBS to replace all cables for me for £35ish

suppose it depends if your happy to set it all up yourself. If not then 35 quid isnt bad i reckon.0

Good option is to go to the shop and buy the gear and brake outers off the reel - then cut to the length you need. Buy 4 inners, and don't forget ferrules and cable ends. usually works out cheaper, and have perfect length cables.0
