He was literally just around the corner from home when a driver decided to cut a corner from behind him (he's fully lit up and wearing hiviz) and the side of the car came into contact with his body and he found himself flying towards the kerb.

He said he shouted at the guy and got a load of lip back. He got on the bike and tried to chase after him, as the car had no lighting over the reg. The driver must have seen him coming as he said the car shot off at great speed.

I've told him to phone the police. I bet he's a creature of habit. Tempted to wait nearby tomorrow and see if a similar vehicle drives that way and note down the reg myself. Though I wont challenge the driver personally. :?

  • That's dreadful! Hope your bro is OK.

Also check out if there's any CCTV in the area, make the police do it.

If your brother or his bike was damaged in any way there is a thing which was brought up on another thread for claiming off an insurance body that deals with claims where the driver can't be identified.

Bro is fine, just pished off. Sadly I dont think CCTV would help - its all houses around here. He seems fine with leaving it now.

Drivers like that make my blood boil.

I'd just go for a device like an airbag off the cycle, but with spikes that pop out on impact - right into the side of their car.

Actual location (obviously I wont reveal where I live in the net, hehe) is south east road here in southampton. Just past the co-op (who's cameras arent set up towards the road, they're inside - my cousin works there, or used to). So if anyone is riding around there around peak times be careful. I think he said it was an escort, me memory has gone nuts today, lmao! I'll double check tonight.

Obviously best to lynch all escort drivers just to air on the side of caution  God no, just kidding!

like the sound of that. Had to refrain from grabbing an inconsiderate 4x4 driver by the throat and battering him black and blue. Idiot thought it would be a good idea to jump the lights at a dodgy set of lights. would have had me off if I wasn't paying attention.

chased after him dam, this traffic stuff rubbish slowed him down to a crawl. and he opened the window, torrent of abuse.....................................

    Im all for Lynch mobs
The doctor said I needed to start drinking more whiskey. Also, I’m calling myself ‘the doctor’ now

I have known people like that driver. They often turn up at work or go home and then tell others "..this f***ing cyclist today!" They are responsible for half the myths.
