Hi,

In the interests of not creating new topics about the same thing I asked over here about MTB shoes for 'cross and got no replies:

Anyone got any MTB shoes they'd recommend? I'm using Time ATAC pedals, and I'd like the option of studs/spikes.

Cheers,
Steve

  • HI there.

MTB shoes with studs under the toes are what you want for cx. I use these ones:

I'm also a big fan of Atacs, they're generally much more tolerant of mud than spds. Just stamp and go.

    Cheers for the reply Andy,

I'd got the studs bit, but just wasn't quite sure what works for running in and works well with ATACs. My current shoes aren't ideal anyway, but they have an annoying bit of tread that makes it very easy to catch the bar of the pedal in if you don't get it just right. Definitely pleased with the ATACs, cope much better than spds and I find 'em easier on my knees.

I'd spotted those particular shoes just yesterday actually - had some 'issues' running up muddy banks on Saturday (not to mention riding down muddy chutes - twas not my day for staying upright!) and going up sideways is not helping me carry momentum!

    Cheers,
    Steve
