Kona Jake, cateye 520 front light, 610 back - even got meself some Ron Hill "tights"

Havent ridden since september and have put it off long enough. Hope I have nice weather, cool drivers and smooth roads. I'll be taking it gently as I'm still a little unsure of the gears and handling of the kona (used to the marin flat bar, even the tyres are different - left the knobblies on the kona for the time being)

Oh and the kona comes with an awesome looking bell - it looks like a lady's boobie

First day on my new bike tomorrow, though its 35 years old so new is a misnomer. The morning run will dictate how quickly I'm on the net to Wiggle for some new brakes or not

Ahhh man it felt good! :D

It took me a LONG time to get there - used to take 30 minutes, but today it was an hour and 45 what with ice everywhere so I had to walk part way. Had a worrying few moments when I was cycing behind another cyclist and a massive lorry appeared. Though the driver was great - he waited ages before he overtook and did it with sheer class! He was driving a Clarkes lorry, 10/10 mate! 8)

The only problem I had was heading up the itchen bridge tentatively, just trying to go easy (my knees still ache) and another cyclist barged into me. I said to him politely "Oi steady mate!" but he blanked me and rattled on. Annoyingly nothing else around at the time so he could have gone into the car-lane, so to speak, but he seemed intent on staying in the cycle lane.

Ride wise that bike is amazing. Not the same kind of ride at all now I've had more time on it. Your weight is more central than on a marin flatbar. I really dont like the brakes - they will be first to be ditched now, hopefully this weekend. Also havent gotten to grips with the gears, for some reason they just flumoxed me compared to the old 8 speed.
