Nope, not at all. You can hardly tell it's there, unless you decide to fill it with wine/beer/lead.
But normal loads are fine with just one.0 -
I too ride around with one pannier. Like Hitler, my other one was shot off in the Somme.
One unconsciously adjusts to it, and it causes no problems.0 -
And before you ask, I dress to the right, so to speak.
I find that the extra bulk on that side (and the extra light on the pannier) means that cars allow a little more room when they pass.0 -
yup, just one here to. you can't tell the difference.
Jasit looks a bit steep to me.....0 -
No noticably difference in balance unless you do go stupid like LiT says and fill with heavy stuff like beer . Always have rode with single on RH side, no real reason apart from the Agu bag I used was a RH bag but my Carradice Super Cs are a pair and the left is as new despite being 10+ years old.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Single sided pannier use is an inappropriate and unnecessary hazard.
Not to mention being asymmetric! He that buys land buys many stones.
He that buys flesh buys many bones.
He that buys eggs buys many shells,
But he that buys good beer buys nothing else.

It's fine. I often ride with 3kg of cat food, veg, milk and other gubbins in mine as well as my clothes. You get used to it. Obviously you put the pannier on the other side of the bike from the side on which you naturally put your foot down when you stop.0

I ride with one pannier usually only has waterproof jacket, fruit, lunch and change of smalls. The other thing i do is alternate the pannier between left and right for each journey. Don't know if it makes any difference though..Commuter Surosa Toledo S34 Audax
Best Bike Merida Road Race 901-18
In truth i love them both0 -
Pannier on the left if going to and from work (I say that in a historic sense) as makes the bike wider away from the traffic when I undercut it.
To and from shops with a heavy load I'd either use both or one but preferably with loading biased to the right to not topple me over when I stop and put the left foot down.
Important consideration, falling over was a problem when I was learning to ride a motorbike!'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....0 -

I had one pannier and I was surprised no matter how much I put in it , it had no effect on balance.
I often carry several illegal immigrants to my local kebab shop in ONE pannier :shock:0
