Which stem?

Since i bought my hardtail i have gotten taller and am hoping that moving my seat back and buying a longer stem will give me a bit more room - WILL THIS WORK??
I have a Giant XTC 2.5 2008 model. Any suggestions on a stem for this bike. Don't want to spend the world on one either.

Well if you are just wanting to try it out, get a real cheap one and try it. Then if it feels good get a better one if you think you need it.0

It will give more room, but will slow the handling down. You can move the saddle on the rails too, but this subtley alters weight distribution.
What length stem do you have?0 -
Bog standard giant out of the box, not sure what length it is.0

Ive been asking the same question.
My measurments are on the stem and they are 90mm.
I might go for 100mm as need a tiny bit of room, but from what people are saying it does affect the bike the longer you go.0 -
