So who's got a job to commute to?

My company has already announced job cuts will be made and the rumour is that we will be told if we are being fired on Friday (subject to a 30 day consultation period). I'm actually really happy here, but hopefully have an interview lined up elsewhere already as I think it is better to be prepared, especially as I've been here for less than 2 years, so will be cheap to lay off.0

I was in exactly the same position 4 months ago, and fully expected to go as I would be a cheap option to get rid of. Luckilly that didn't happen.
The 30 day consultation period is very good in my experience, and your employer is duty bound to make sure any decision they come to is based uopn performance against a set of criteria which you can ask to see., and not purely based upon the cheapest option. If you feel you have been unjustly choosen you can also appeal the decision, which makes employers more likely to do the right thing.
Best of luck on Fridaypain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................
