Hi,
I'm after a light set of pedals to replace my DMR V12 MAGs and need something with a bit more surface area. (Better than 90x90. Amy ideas please?

I don't know what the size is, but one of the mags recently had a pedal review, and Kona JackSh1t won the flat pedal review. They gave them 10 and V12's got a 7 (I think)Boardman Road Comp '08

Correction: Kona WahWah pedals, not Jacksh1t.
Atomlab AirCorp got 9
Gusset SlimJim got 9
WahWah got 10
Straitline got 9
Wellgo B25 got 9Boardman Road Comp '08

Wellgo MG1s are a tiny bit bigger (I have three sets of V8s and a set of these).
Lighter than the V12 Mags but still sealed bearings and mine are lasting very well.
Cheap too - and Wellgo make DMR pedals. Just need to not be a label freak!0 -

Don't buy Crank Bros 5050x, they're crap.
You could look at the 5050xx though, at least they have proper bearings so they might last a bit longer. They've got huge platforms.0 -

sorry to thread hijack but i have just ordered a set of these after remembering matts recomendation previously and the magazine review mentions that they are better than the welgo pedals on the review (which scored a 9 so maybe they would have been 10s)and am waiting for them to arive,
lighter than v12 mags and about half the cost. i have size 12 feet and have always used dmr v12s or 8s and have found them pretty good. let me know if you are selling you v12 mags0 -
dmr v8's are great pedals i know lots of people riding on them and havent heard one bad point im gonna get some soon checkout

Yeah, I just replaced a set of V8s with MG1s, nice upgrade. But they're not much bigger if at all, they do feel a bit bigger but that might just be headology. Great pedals though. Wonder why the mag reviewed that other set then commented about the MG1s? Made no sense.Uncompromising extremist0

BAD POINT ALERT!
I find the shape of the pedal (V8 or clone) means my feet feel like they are coming off the sides (rolling off) And having tried differrent pedal, I'm sticking with my Gusset Slim Jim's0 -
I had some Crank Bros 5050s and they were heaps big and had good grip for the trail riding I am doing....would buy them again.0

*shuts eyes and puts fingers in ears* nah nah nah nah i cant hear you nah nah nah..
so what was that about how great the v8s are
I have tiny feet so the v8 feel great for me but they do say that bigger feet can find them small.Nothing in life can not be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas

Sheeps - nicely done! Mine are holding up very well (MG1s)
I've got 3 sets of V8 and thought they were infallible then suddenly the bearings went on two sets at once! Re-packing with grease helps but they've never been the same.
I now insist on sealed bearings. V8s are good but a bit heavy and not as robust as some - I also used to lose pins from them all the time!0 -
the mg1's turned up this morning and i only ordered tham early hours of monday!! so kudos to "high on bikes" on eBay and only 31 quid. they are properly feathery light and look ace, mine are the grey ones and i am looking forward to giving them a run out later (sad arent i!!)0

Sheeps - I used them too - very quick delivery!0

I've recently bought some Outland CNC'd pedals with sealed cartridge bearings (they're Gussett Slim Jims in a different box!!)
Proper good and nice and big, good at £34 too0 -
Kona Jacksh1t are fairly wide and seem to have a comfortable profile. Cheapo bearings and a bit awkward to adjust etc though. Can get a pair for less than £15 though so "almost" disposable if you really can't be bothered - which if you get the pedal stroke wrong as often as I do helps a lot :?0

sunline v one's......the k9's kobblas.......that will last for years.0

Don't buy the Specialized Lo Pro Mag II's.
Great pedal. Lovely wide platform, and v.low profile (as the name suggests).
But, can you buy replacemennt pins, dispite them being advertised as 'replaceable pins'?
No. No you can't. Just try asking at your LBS. Or, even emailing Specialized.
I keep meaning to get a complaint in to the ASA for this. And one day I really must.Stumpy, Rockhopper (stolen!) & custom SX Trail II - that should do it!0
