Worn sprocket
Should you be able to tell with the naked eye if a sprocket is worn ? I only ask as I fitted a new chain a few weeks ago. Ridden the bike about 8 times since then and all was fine till today when I noticed some slipping in one sprocket when climbing hard on the small ring. No problem in the big ring. I think I may need to replace the cassette but this sprocket looks fine to my unskilled eye. If I do replace the cassette will I be ok to use the same chain bearing in mind it is relatively brand new ?

If a sprocket is very worn you can see they have a 'hooked' look. I have fitted a new chain to what looked like an unworn freewheel and had the chain jump. The last time I replaced the chain on my bike I replaced the cassette at the same time. My bike has an eight speed cassette so they are quite chep to replace.0
