Hi all,
I was out the other day and was looking for a nice spin to do, which was not too far from Glasgow. I found this route which was amazing. Nice wide singletrack and paths, some fire roads and II have to say, probably one of the longest sections of swoopy singletrack I have seen outside a Trail Ccentre. I did it riding up Glen Loin, , towards Loch Sloy and then round bringing you out above Succouth on the last part of the path down from the Cobbler, but it would be even better the other direction as the ride down Glen Loin would be amazing!

Have fun!

    Yes, it IS splendid the other way round. Here is the route from an old What Mountain Bike magazine:

  • It pays to search the forums - I had no idea this route existed, but I've been looking for something that's a step up from my usual training route. Brilliant! :)
  • I'll be up in Glasgow for around 10 day's this August visiting the In-laws.
    I alway's bring my bike so I can escape.
    Looks a great loop, I'll have to give it a blast.
  • Nice one - let me know when you're up if you fancy a riding buddy - I'm Bobby no-mates, myself! :lol:
  • I recently done this route for the first time aswell, we done it in a clockwise direction if that makes sense, was a brilliant day and the ride down glenn loin was great, another one ticked off the list :lol:

    Can anyone suggest any other good routes in this area?

    Is the route easy enough to follow?
  • Yeah we thot it was pretty straight forward, if you use the directions in the link above then you should have no problems. Only small problem we had was finding the start of the route, however if we had opened our eyes we woulda got on it straight away :lol:

    Nice. I think I'll give this a try on Saturday.
  • Myself and Greeneyelevin did this route today and it was brilliant. The early climb is a bit torturous, but once it gets going it's just great.

    The descent down loose packed rocks and boulders was pretty hairy in the wet - ten hours later I've no idea how I saved myself from getting as out of shape as I did. After that, as scottyjohn says above, the return leg features some fantastic, lengthy sections of singletrack - very rocky in places, but superb fun.

    Here's the Nokia Sports Tracker profile of the ride if anyone is interested;
