Thumbs up for slime filled inner tubes

Leaving site yesterday I heard a ticking sound in time with each turn of a wheel.
There's just enough light to see a 3" nail sticking out of the back tyre.
"Oh bother", say I!
Pulled the nail out thinking there's no way the tubes can work on that .
Put my finger over the hole for ten seconds, took it off expecting air to come out and...made the 4 miles home! In the pouring rain - it was brilliant! Was hitting faster speeds than normal, not sure why but it was lot more fun than sticking the bike in a van.
They are only Halfords tubes as well.

personally I don't like them. They add too much rotating weight to the wheel. Decent tyres, tubes and keeping them at 120 psi has kept me puncture free for six monthspain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

I'm not a fan either but if you pull anything else out of them, spin the wheel rather than put your finger over the hole to force the slime wherever it is needed.
Only time i used them i ended up wearing the stuff as it sprayed out of the hole!0 -
Used to use them years ago on the mtb (0ff road) good for thorns etc but 100% fail for pinch flats0

Slime is very very good with thorns and nails. I used to use it on my MTB until i went on a weight reduction spree and for this kind of puncture it was always great.
Unfortunatly its utterly useless against pinch punctures so don't be tempted to reduce the pressure below the recommended.Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)
