Boardmans easily dented?
I was in Halfords the other week (for car stuff!) and had a look at the Boardman bikes - very nice looking they were as well. Except that every model on display had a dent on the top tube about 10cm from the seat tube where the tube profile changes, either on the left or right side.
Obviously shop display bikes get dinged more than most, especially by some of the less discerning halfords shoppers (and staff) so I kinda forgot about it untill I was in a different Halfords store (bloody car drinks oil like you wouldn't believe ) and noticed they had the same problem on a couple of their Boardmans as well, same place etc.
There's no obvious reason why this area would be affected ie it's not where the handlebars would hit or anything...
Anyone else notice this or have any explanations?

If it was on every single frame - then I'd think it was meant to be there ?0

No, it was obviously a dent as opposed to styling, but I did think the same initially - until I saw it was different on the others. On one it was on the right and the other 2 were on the left. As well as this they were at slightly different distances from the seatube but all roughly in the same spot and were of varying shapes and sizes.0

Just took delivery of my new boardman comp this am. No dents apparent Perhaps it was down to they way they were handled / secured at those stores.2 Wheels or not 2 wheels..That is not in question.0

Possibly a packing issue and transit damage? They would have spotted this early and changed it so that any bikes being sold would be fine and the dented ones used for display purposes?0

If you've got one it might be worth being a bit careful around that area when packing it in the car etc... Just seemed strange to see such a similar problem on quite a few bikes.0

Really weird eh ? I would have asked in the shop I think.0

i've had my boardman comp over a year and i haven't had any soft dents (granted i have a few from a few stray rocks) but i wouldn't say they're easily dented, i was probably on the bikes limit where i was0

I've heard that Boardman Comps make your hair fall out0

It's probally the locks that are used, when a halfords employee puts the bike back onto the stand and putsnthe lock back on it probally has hit the frame and chipped it.
My boardman has a few small paint work chips but that is because it has to be left outside of my college locked to a fence with lots of other bikes and some peple haqve knocked there bike into mine.
It doesn't worry me, my bike is for riding not posing.
