hit a speedbump this morning and my forks bottomed out.
When I stopped to check what was going on, I noticed that I only have about 40mm of travel and the compression control doesn't appear to do anything.
Help!?

checked the air pressure?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Yup, 100psi positive and negative.
Turning the compression adjuster makes no difference to the travel.0 -
It's only a couple of months old so can just take it back to the shop anyway, was just wondering if there was something obvious to check.
Could it be possible for the lever to detach from whatever internals it turns inside the fork?0 -
Oil seal has blown in the right hand leg.
Happened to a new pair of REBA teams I had. All the oil goes to the bottom of the fork which restricts travel and there is no oil around the damiping cartridge so compression damping does not work. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -

Brilliant, thanks.
It's on a boardman so taking it back to Halfords tomorrow morning. Not sure if it's something they can sort straight away, but as it's only 6 weeks old I might just demand they put replacement forks on (I know they have some in stock as they're not sold out of 08 boardman Teams).
I knew someone on here would know what it was0 -
It's not a big job if they know what they're doing (but unfortunatley we're talking Halfords here). My LBS did it themselves rather than send them back to Rockshoxs (they're a RockShox service centre), had the forks back in 24hrs.
The O ring oil seal had a tiny manufacturing defect on mine which allowed the oil to seep down. It could of course be something else but either way it should be under warranty so take them back to Halfords. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

The mechanic in my local halfords seems really good to be fair, did a great job of setting the bike up in the first place and seems to really know his stuff. He's going to take a look at it first thing in the morning.0 -
Well they do say there are some excellent guys in some of the Bikehuts, hope you got one of themIt's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

That's pretty good can't fault that service.
Saying that my LBS was pretty good today, took my forks back which they serviced a couple of weeks ago, not really sure what's wrong, the TALAS travel adjust just doesn't feel right. They spent a good 10 minutes talking with me, I started to think I was just being paranoid and was going to say don't worry I'll take them for another ride and see if it's just me when the owner said no, we'll strip them anyway and have a look just so we've (the shop) got piece of mind.
Made me feel way better and I really can't fault that for cracking customer service, real case of the customer's always right even when I'm probably not. I half hope there is something wrong with them, if not I can see a guilt fuelled shopping trip coming up :oops:It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
