What's this shop like?

Does anyone know what Action Bikes under the bridge by Embankment tube station is like?

Have to get some new tyres and was wondering if this place was worth a visit rather than the usual Evans.

Thanks

Personally IMHO, if you can fit them yourselves buy them off the Internet as they'll be cheaper.

Sites like www.wiggle.co.uk often provide a good price and a decent delivery service. Generally speaking if its just tyres and you know the ones you want and the RRP then any bike shop selling them at that price will do.

I used to go there reguarly when I worked on the Strand, but that's 2 years ago.

At the time, nice friendly group of guys in there.

Not the biggest of shops though, and only on one level, so might be worth giving them a call first to see what they have in.

Cycle surgery also get good reviews, few of them about Londinium.

Cheers DDD, I would normally, as I have no problems fitting them. Unfortunately the rear won't stay seated at any pressure above 50psi - which is not enough in a 700x25 unfortunately, so an expensive trip down the road is in order. It's just deciding if I go right to Enbankment or left to Evans at the bottom of Ludgate Hill (I'm in Aldwych).

Actionbikes website is not very useful so I was hoping to save myself a walk down there - can anyone help?

    Ah yes... the telephone

Thanks Daniel B. Just spoke to a very helpful chap down there - knew exactly what he had in stock. Might be worth a wander after all...

My experience of Action bikes is that they're a sh*t, moody, disinterested bunch. This is based on 2 different shops in West London. I always got the impression that they were more interested in selling £100 bikes for christmas pressents than actually dealing with cyclists.

Just as an addition, had forgotten this, but used to frequent the branch in Staines, but this was WAY back, like 18 years ago, but that was always very good in there, many a hour whiled away in there :D
