Noisy Chainset

I have had my budget MTB for around 4 months and the gears/chain have started to make a little noise. Would a clean of them and relube help? If washed with water & washing up liquid, can it harm it.

Could need a clean: maybe needs readjusting (ie rubbing on front mech).

Always rinse well if using washing up liquid as the salt in it can eat chains.
