  • Yup, its a good ride, intermediate I'd say, wouldn't be suprised if most people on here have ridden it to be honest.

Facilities are good too, http://www.chasetrails.co.uk/bikehire.php for bike hire info.

I like section 7-13 and lurve section 8. Only downside is the dog is a little short but it's easy to extend it as it crosses several easy bridleways and other bits of singletrack en route. Right now it's muddy in places but the best bits are dry.

Swinnos bike shop at Birches valley has Giant and Trek FS bikes for £50/day  but there are cheaper alternatives. I think the other visitor centre at the top of Marquis Drive also does hire bikes. Have fun.

  • You can hire bikes from Mammoth Lifestyle (near Milford Common). Milford is a great place to start out a ride, with loads of singletrack through the ancient woodland on the way up to the dog, and some real nice singletack through the 'new' forest on the way back. Including a lap of the dog, you can easily make a 15+ mile ride to and from Milford, with loads of challenging singletrack. I live just 4 miles from the Chase, and ride there at least 4 times a week, and i still find new tracks even now. Throw me an email, and you could join me and my buddies one weekend if you want?
