I am planning a long ride (50 odd miles mainly road), ive been out a few times on longer than normal rides and although i find my back side getting used to the saddle what should i be wearing ? i have briefly looked on crc but unsure what to buy. Something padded that i can wear under trousers is what i m after ? or should i be buying a padded trouser ?

ANy help would be appreciated

Thanks

Matt

Got some Endura and Altura 'undershorts' that are great for wearing with a variety of outer clothing. £15 or so.

+1for the DHB's I got a pair approx. 1 year ago and they've kept me pile-free and comfortable for many an off-road mile. (including 2 South Downs Way ventures!)
    Oh, and at £7.50.....

    Endura padded briefs

I usually wear them under cheap non cycling specific shorts and trousers and think they're great. Have lasted several years and still good.

I also have Ronhill Pro Bikester DXB Tights w/o pad which I like. There's a padded version for more £££ and a non waterproof version for less £££ too.

Whatever you get in the end.... Make sure you wash 'em regularly
Oh, and go do 102 miles of the South Downs way and check out the skid marks.
  • Don't forget a decent chamois creme as well as the shorts, it makes a huge difference especially on longer rides.

^^^ did Tom really write that here?

+1 dhb padded shorts (I prefer the bib ones).

+1 for Endura undershorts, they wick amazingly well.
  • Just wear your normal gear. That Lycra stuff is disgusting... I did 70 miles the other day on a £15 saddle. No probs

I have Endura Singletrack & Humvee shorts. Not too baggy not too tight, and go with all my riding tops & jackets. Lycra undershorts definitely help keep you warm and the drafts away from my boll0cs.

    How appropriate. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/DZ_Nu ... 360038450/
