What's with the new rubber lighting mounting?

I've started to notice that lights are using the rubber strip method, I've got one light with this type and it's rubbish, it just slips and rotates round so eventually the light is pointing downwards. And it's a small light as well. I've seen bigger heavier lights with the same rubber strip.

Are they doing this on purpose, so you chuck the light in the bin on the first night ride?
Say... That's a nice bike..

Use a bit of cut up inner tube behind the strip, or a layer of insulation tape. This should stop it slipping
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
  • I noticed this a while back with the cateye lights, they started using a plastic band with a worm gear, and it is just useless. Half the time it slips, and they always rattle around.

Hence I went into my LBS and bought up all the decent ones they had left, including all the ones on their display stand, that i swapped for worm gear ones!!!!
