Resistance on Turbo

Hi,
Recently bought a cyclops mag turbo which has a 5 setting resistance knob.
My old turbo was a standard spring type one, which one bike was locked in the resistance would always be the same. This new turbo makes me feel I never have the setting exactly the same and its annoying as hell, especially as I am trying to get some training this winter and if the resistance is not always the same not going to really show what my improvement is!
Any help/
