As I posted earlier, my bike was stolen whilst I was on holiday. I have the loss adjuster coming tomorrow to discuss my claim, and I was looking for advice from anyone as to how best to deal with her. I'm looking for arguments against being paid out in Halfrauds vouchers for my bike (it was specified on my policy with a value of £900.00) and also how to convince her that the other stuff was stolen when I do not have proof or purchase/receipts.

Please help

Why do you think they'll want to give you Halfords vouchers? Many insurance companies have contacts with bike shops (not always Halfords) but if your bike was a specific make/model and you want it replaced with an identical bike then you need to have your paperwork in order. Find a shop that sells the bike and get prices for it. Get a price in writing, from the shop or a print from a website. If there were any accessories on the bike make sure you get details of those as well with prices.

Don't assume the loss adjuster is there to try and stop you getting your claim paid out. It may just be the company's procedure for her to visit you and she will probably want to get it sorted as quickly as possible. Having full, printed details of the value of the claim will make her life easier and make it more likely that your claim will be paid out quickly.
  • I have actually had the meeting with the loss adjuster and it has all been sorted satisfactorily.
