Good bike shop in Sevenoaks area
Can anyone recommend a good bike shop in the Sevenoaks area? I've just moved to the town and have a new frame & fork that needs the carbon fork steerer cutting down to size and the headset fitting.
The only one I know of is Bikes Bikes Bikes at the top of the town - are they up to the job? In my experience it's the kind of thing that can only be done properly with the right tools.
Cheers,
Paul

Larkfield Cycles (yep you guessed it in Larkfield near West Malling) are the best bike shop i've ever been to, the guy who owns the shop 'Tony' is a Road Racer and very knowledgeable and holds all the top quality expensive kit but also lower priced items for the likes of me
They also have a fully kitted out workshop. My Road Bike:-

Weird, when you look on their website you would think they only do MTBs.0 -

Quite agree, the website lets the companies image down big time, no equipment listed or advertised, but as soon as you walk towards the shop window, you realise how specialist they are both in terms of MTB and Road Bikes.
They have a 7K Madone (Think its 7K) in the window.
Have lived in the area for the past 9 years, but never been in the shop until a few weeks ago when i was in the market for my new road bike, and i couldn't believe the standard of equipment he stocks.
He isn't the cheapest, but i would say he's definetely the best, he knows his stuff and comes accross as a bit of a pro, he seems to carry so much stock and always has what you are after, he has such a passion for road cycling, has his own road bike hanging up in the shop and the wheels on the bike alone were 5K
If any of you live around the area, he's the type of shop thats definetely worth a visit just to take a look at the type of equipment that is available.
And as i said, he has his own workshop towards the back of the shop, and they allways have high specked bikes on the bike holders with his bike mechanics carrying out works.
The other day he had a Boardman bike waiting to be re-built, somebody had been a victim of a Halfords demolition set-up :evil:My Road Bike:-

Another vote for Wildside in Tunbridge Wells - Gary in the service department is particularly helpful. My cycling blog: http://girodilento.com/0

They are by no means up to Larkfield/Wild Side standard but there is always 'Bikes Bikes Bikes' at the top of town opposite Waitrose. They are friendly and always sort me out with basic stuff. That or you can resort to Halfords down in the Otford retail park.
I personally use Bromley Bikes, but they on the way to work for me.0 -
Thanks all for your recommendations. I'll go and check out these other bike shops.0
