Hello All

I live in Newcastle and we have had two great days of weather for cycling this weekend. Quite cool but bright and sunny and not too windy and managed two fifty milers. I even got my good bike out today for what will probably be its final run out before going into hibernation until next season.

I checked my cycling diary and the last time we had decent weekend weather was the back end of September.

How was it for everyone else?

Brucey

It was fantastic today. There were still a few puddles about so I took the winter bike out, but I was actually getting too hot in jersey, shorts, arm warmers and leg warmers!

I didn't manage to get out, despite the fantastic afternoon weather - too many little jobs round the house needed doing. Was going to do an hour or two now that kids have gone to bed but just got back from walking the dog and it's gone very slippery underfoot. :(
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

three and a half hours this am. Wet and windy for the first hour so turned back as I had put on a not waterproof top. Rain stopped a bit later and began to dry out. Luckily met CC Giro coming the other way so joined them for a few miles and ended up doing exactly the distance I had planned to. Well pleased with myself as at this time of the year with grot weather it's hard work keeping the base miles up when the start of the seasons four months away.

Nearly 80 miles today in a glorious, sunny Cumbria. One of those days when everything is sharp and clean looking. I even took the summer bike out and it stayed clean!
  • I had a great time in Richmond Park yesterday. I'd packed my bike away for winter after getting soaked on my last ride . I even had to take my off windproof yesterday because I was so warm. Good times. :D

A perfect weekend for riding, here. Blue skies, almost no wind, dry roads, great visibility. The landscape was just out there, inviting me in.

It's a shame, therefore, that I chose Saturday morning to begin the simple task of changing my corroded rear brake cable.

As is always the case with these little jobs, I was one tool short, obliged to use force where things had seized up, called away to do other things etc..

I finally got it finished last night after dark. This morning it is raining again.

Absolutely glorious day yesterday, 70 miles around the Fylde, with the sea breeze in my face on the way out and the orange afternoon sun on the way back... glad to be out yesterday. What made it even better, was that it was pouring down when I left Liverpool on the train :D
  • Beautiful yesterday - 76 miles in the sunshine. Only hazard was the ridiculous number of suicidal pheasants.

I think I got a bit of a tan. 8) (From the sunshine, not the pheasants)
  • it was indeed glorious on Tyneside, but made the mistake of going off road for a change.

3 hours riding, up towards Blyth from Wallsend, then an hour cleaning

I just went and did 32 miles, totally p*****g it down all the way round, only average 16.2mph which I am disappointed about, I'm hoping it was due to all the traffic.
  • I have just booked 1/2 day so I can get out. it's actually WARM in the sun today!!!!

Weh-hey! Finally got out this morning for a two-hour circuit before starting work mid-morning. It was beautiful out there. Sunshine, little wind and great landscapes under a low sun.

And guess what? The work I thought was going to take all day is now all finished but for a few polishing touches. I'm on a roll! Time to make a start on tomorrow's batch.

It does you good, I tell you! :D:D:wink:
