I'm building my own bike but have a question. I have ordered a set of Halo Freedom Disc wheels and want to attach a Marzocchi 55 ATA 2 fork to the bugger. Will this fit okay? Please help this retard out.

Your Freedom wheels have a 20mm through hub do they not? In that case yes, your 55s will fit.

    But...

You sure you want 55s? They've been given a universal panning in the press because of their poor build quality and reliability issues...

Not really in the same ball-park as a 55 ATA 2 (£400 mark)

Cheapest Lyrik is the coil U-turn version which is £679 RRP, and the Fox 36 Van R is £589.

If you want a good all-round 20mm fork, I'd go for the Pike 454 Air U-turn every time (£429).

Rock Shox Lyrik Solo Air 2008 for £440, or for £374 if you were in Macedonia.

Or if you don't care about the weight that much, but you need 160mm, then Domain 318.
I can't think of any guy that had problems with these forks. :?

  • Also forgot to ask about the Marzocchi 55R forks and Rockshox Domain 302 Coil u turn, are they any better than the 55 ata 2? I'm on a wife restricted budget and she'd blow her nut if she knew I spent £400 odd on some forks when she says she can do with a new washing machine! Which of these would be recommended?

    Much appreciated.

I think they are the basic forks with only adjustable rebound and the U-turn on the Domain.
Weight: 100g lighter the 55 than the Domain. And I think the 55R is only avaiable with 140mm of travel.

If you want 140mm of travel the best way to go is the Pikes.
For 160mm I would go for the Domain 318 because it has Motion control to the 302 and
that means that the fork rebound can be adjusted for high or low speed compression
when hitting bumps, at slow or fast bumps. Did I make any sence?

About the 55 ATA, ATA2, ATA micro, ETA, TST forks I'm not so sure wich of these forks
has adjustable high or low speed compression. I'm still learning. But they are about
    300-400g lighter than the 318.

If I'm wrong, please someone to tell me.
