Riding Posture Advice

Hi, can anyone offer any links or advice for me to check that my riding posture is correct for my heigh/weight?! I'm about 5 ft 9" tall and prob's about 14 stone but haven't weighed myself for ages and I lift weights regular so I'm quite stocky and not overweight.

My frame is a GT large (seat tube: 505mm). For commuting I have the seat quit high, I can't actually reach the floor with the flat part of my foot but I find I can get much more speed this way!

Thanks in advance, J
I love the sound my tyres make on dusty single track!

    Might need more info.

No flat feet on the floor is fine - but you must be able to touch the ground with the balls of your feet. Best way is put your heel on the pedal and make sure your leg is almost dead straight on a downstroke - then you'll be fine with the front of your foot (slightly bent on each downstroke) - if your hips "rock" the seat is too high.

Look at your bar position too - I'd say a Large is generally too big for someone 5'9" but with a short stem you might be okay.
