My saddle, post and light was stolen!

Yep that's right! My beautiful Donovan, my beautiful beautiful Donovan has been desecrated by some b*stard fiend. A dreg of society, the scum of life! Anyanka, my vengeance demon I call upon thee “A plague on his house!”
At 17:00 I decided to speak to my manager about my work load and development. At 17:30 I got changed into cycle gear and headed towards my bike ready for the evenings commute. To my dismay my seat, post and light attached to the post were missing!
At first I thought this was a joke and then I figured it was a 'hate-crime' committed by a jealous member of staff. I reported it to the porters at work and spitting blood while watching CCTV footage, which the porters allowed me to do, I found that the crime was committed at 17:17 and the criminal (because that is what he is) nearly went under a van trying to escape.
I tracked through the entire day and found more footage of when the criminal came into my workplace, where they went and when they left. I got in this morning and the porter on duty that night had watched the entire thing and found out what building the criminal entered (Diamond Geezer! Thanks for all the help, appreciate it, really!).
So! I stormed the building with the CCTV footage (burned onto CD) in hand and ready to play to the staff in that building eager for one to identify who the criminal was. A staff member revealed a name on impulse having heard the description of the person (keep in mind that no one else entered the building at least an hour either side of when the criminal did - and the nature of their job is to keep a record of appointments and requires personable relationship with clients - so they knew who he was). Later after watching the footage she retracted and said she wouldn't confirm the name without a full facial image (which we have). No matter, she said the name and offered no retort when we said well we've got a name. She incriminated the person and it has to be them because she saw no one else that day (and as I said the nature of the job means you develop a relationship with each client - she bloody well knows who he is).
Personally I feel the staff member should be called into question for her actions but one thing at a time. My beautiful Donovan requires justice!
I’ve reported it to the police and will hand over the entirety of the CCTV footage we have of the person. In all honesty I don’t even want my items back, something as personal as a saddle I’d much rather just replace but I feel justice should be served, I don’t want to feel like a victim commuting to work (of all things) in fear because some jealous f*ck feels they have a right to my personal items.
Loosing the light hurts the most that meant something, I specifically choose that back light because it scrolled like knightrider and amalgamated two aspects of my childhood - Kit the car in Kinghtrider and riding a bike dreaming of being Michael Knight....
The absolute mother f*cking, b*stard, cnut, sh*tting f*ck face scum bag. Words cannot express the rage I hold.
It doesn’t escape me, I’m thankful that at least the rest of my bike is intact, I still feel violated.
What Seatpost and saddle should I get? I’m planning on spending £80 - £150. I’m buying them tomorrow.

What saddle did you have before? If you found it suited, stick with the same again.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

"At 17:00 I decided to speak to my manager about my work load "
Methinks you have your criminal.
Sorry, only kidding - I appreciate that it's a really horrible feeling to have someone take your stuff.
I hope you get justice.0 -
Some people are complete P****s when it comes to cycles. There was no need for that person to steal your stuff as a saddle and light is cheap enough. They prolly thought "..hmm, ebay methinks..."
When I think of people tampering with other cyclists bikes I think of two things:
1. the fellow staff member in the cycle cage who decided it wouldbe a great idea to cut my cables. I presumed they had gone for the brakes but instead thankfully had cut the gear derailer right next to it. I wondered if it was something to do with them trying to "reserve" their space with a d lock on the post - and no, you cant reserve a space. Its first come, first served. :?
2. My so called friend who messed with someones light, thinking it was funny to switch it on and drain their battery. "If they're stupid enough to leave it on a bike" was his comment, followed by my giving him a very painful dead arm and a telling off about road safety.0 -
Some advice for your next saddle / post / light.
Get a seat post locking bolt like pitlock or pinhead and buy a quick release light that can be removed each time you lock up the bike.
I have secure bicycle parking at work, but still take the above precautions, because scumbags can exist in the workplace. Especially in a building of 1000 people.0 -
On mine I have just used a dead cheap cable lock. I'd presume for a cheap saddle it isnt worth their bother. I could always be wrong though0
-
@DonDaddyD that sucks! Someone stole my bar ends years ago and I felt exactly the same way. Another joker liked to disconnect my brake cables.
Can you blanket email the offender's company with the story of the theft, with pictures?
If you reckon the tea leaf is going to eBay your items, can you find his username and point the police in his direction? Possession of stolen goods at least.
Maybe those helpful porters would let you put up some "FILTHY THIEVING SCUM BIKE THIEF SCUM OPERATE IN THIS AREA" posters? Shame him into ... something.downfader wrote:...friend who messed with someones light, thinking it was funny to switch it on and drain their battery.
s'why I always carry spare batteries
I leave my stuff on the bike as we're a small company with a large proportion of cyclists and there's no-one else in the building. I'll probably notch up the paranoia when we get some other companies coming in though.Today is a good day to ride0 -
I hope justice is served
I used the kinightrider light thing too... people appreciate it as I ride away...
don't have a quick release saddle, but I suspect you know this alreadyPurveyor of sonic doom

I should mention that I've replaced all my QR skewers with hex bolt ones and use both a D-lock (back wheel->frame) and cable (frame+front wheel->rack) to secure the bike.
I had a Knight Rider style rear light for ages and loved it. Any current lights do that pattern? Or is it illegal now?Today is a good day to ride0 -
