Offroad routes near Durham

I'm going down to friends over winter and want to take the bikes. I'm not familiar with the area so was wondering if anyone could reccomend a shop to get a route from or a guide book or even just a route

your best bet is if you can head upto Hamsterly Forest, which isn't too far away from Durham. Lots of stuff to do there. http://www.visitnortheastengland.com/mt ... hamsterley lots of info there. Went when i was visiting the area and its problery the best for biking.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

Hamsterley is good but there is also Chopwell Woods Smaller in size but there is plenty of scope single track and climbingGiant Trance X2 2008 Anoidised Black
