Offroad routes near Durham

I'm going down to friends over winter and want to take the bikes. I'm not familiar with the area so was wondering if anyone could reccomend a shop to get a route from or a guide book or even just a route

your best bet is if you can head upto Hamsterly Forest, which isn't too far away from Durham. Lots of stuff to do there. http://www.visitnortheastengland.com/mt ... hamsterley lots of info there. Went when i was visiting the area and its problery the best for biking.

Hamsterley is your best bet, i live 10 mins away and it is the best bet round here. you could try Kielder which is just over an hour away or Dalby about an hour and a half

Hamsterley is good but there is also Chopwell Woods Smaller in size but there is plenty of scope single track and climbing
