    You need to alert them.

Bloke at work ordered a Boardman Hybrid through the Halfords scheme. They messed him about so much. When they phoned him to finally arrange collection. "Don't want it now!" Out of petulence. Next month he noticed the money had been taken out of his salary. Phoned HR, "I turned the bike down because..." Apparently, if you have asked for the voucher - you have to use it. Now he has got a Hybrid grudgingly...

If you have different reference numbers for the vouchers...will get messy!
  • Everyone at my company got two vouchers. They both had the same numbers. A few weeks later we got a letter apologising for the mistake and a postage paid envelope for the return of one copy. It is highly unlikely that they won't notice you used two vouchers and as it is your work that actually owns the bike, you would possibly be risking your job for something that you don't own.
No-one wanted to eat Patagonia Toothfish so they renamed it Chilean Sea Bass and now it's in danger of over fishing!
  • its not worth the hassle! plus think of it as good karma if you do the right thing, something equally nice is bound to happen back :-)

I think angel Homer wins in this case.

....on the other hand, think how nice it would be to have separate winter and summer bikes
  • I think you should send the extra vouchers to me!

But really I think you should just let them know as it will probably cause you some hassle otherwise! ;) It feels good to be honest as well! :D

The vouchers aren't like cash, the bike shop will seek payment from Cyclescheme probably before you can collect. Cyclescheme is a fairly small company and from my experience they were fully aware of who is buying what bike from where. It will be picked up and you will be embarrassed!

Given that this is tax-driven and HMRC do bad things to people who mess them about, I'd let them know...

I had a similar thing this year when Halfords rang me to let me know my vouvher had expired and as I had not used it they would send another I had owned my bike for about 4 months by then !
Reckoned it was not worth risking Job and told them the error of their ways...
  • Still waiting for my voucher(s)
As I understand it, your company will be invoiced for the bike you get using the voucher (so they can reclaim the VAT), so doubt it would go unnoticed. Best to stay honest in life :D
2 Wheels or not 2 wheels..That is not in question.

Yeah - its pretty easy really isnt it - its not like you've found a tenner in the middle of a deserted street is it ? These vouchers will all be traceable - and you'd get into biiiig trouble if you used it.

Lead story in the local rag is a girl who defrauded her employer in dribs and drabs - to the tune of woo - £600 !! She's lost her job, her name is all over the papers, and all for that.

(if you're gonna do it - go big - seems more chance of getting away with it - plus you can afford better lawyers if you've gotten away with a few million !) ;-)

a bike isnt worth it really.
