I have a hollotech LX crank and I love it, but also for a hun you can get XT.
Cant go wrong with shimano.0 -
New Shimano SLX looks very good, and is only 50g or so heavier than XT.
For £70 its a bargain.2006 Giant XTC
2010 Giant Defy Advanced
2016 Boardman Pro 29er
2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4
2017 Canondale Supersix Evo0 -
Chain Reaction have got 2007 Raceface Evolve XC chainsets going cheap, should have enough change to buy a superstar BB for when the RF one quickly dies too... If you're lucky enough to require 170mm cranks like me you're in for an even better bargain...
I've just bought one and they're gorgeous as well!

People have said though that you need to keep changing the BB all the time.
Could become very expensive if they are not that great.0 -

You'll see I said to get a superstar BB with the money you're saving... I mean £55 for £155 cranks, what's there to complain about? And to be fair, most reviews actually praise the BB and it averages 4/5 with a lot of reviews...0 -
where abouts can i get one of the superstar BB's from, think im gunna get one of these cranks see how it goes.0

Go for Acros! They do a really lovely clockwork orange one. Oh, pure sex trust me. I had one, then sold the bike it was on....jedster wrote:Just off to contemplate my own mortality and inevitable descent into decrepedness.

I have the Evolve XC chainset with a SS HTII ceramic BB (http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=64&osCsid=df14295cee51ec80bb5c828535f67177), works great. Have an SLX double on the other MTB and that's nice to though0
