Popped in to a shop called Mountain Warehouse this weekend.

The had cycling tops & jackets at half price.

Now I wouldn't have spent the full £34.99 on the top I purchased, but at £17.50 for a breathable, winter, long sleeve top seemed a bargain. Excellent fit too.

Nearly bought the jacket too. A lightweight breathable, windproof jacket that would stuff into a back pocket for £22.

Only dissadvantage to both tops - neither have back pockets.

What makes you think it's cycling gear? It's just an outlet store where everything's always "half-price".

    Just searched their website.

Can't see the cycling clothing on there. Guess you'll have to believe me.

  • Perhaps they were 'mid-layer' items for fell walkers. There's no reason why clothing appropriate for cycling but not actually designed with bike riding in mind can't be used -- if it works use it.

I use an Assos fugu jacket for cross country skiing -- I found the cut of it (designed for bike riding position) actually assisted my skate 2 technique.

I suppose it could be, if fell walkers clothing has a low back panel, is tight fitting and says 'biking' on it.

  • Are you sure it's a "b"?

I'm doing MTBing in a jacket I got given for running. Its far too warm to run in - but its pretty good for MTBing. No back pockets - but thats not a problem cos I use my cheap Aldi camelbak. Sorted.
  • I have also bought from Mountain Warehouse. The base layers were on the large side, even the smallest size was a bit loose. They mainly cater for walkers but are introducing a range for cycling. Suspect they will be more for MTB though. Did buy good pair cycling shorts so will keep checking their stock.
2 Wheels or not 2 wheels..That is not in question.
  • I bought some thermals in the Covent Garden one last week. I will be going back in the spring for a pair of shorts. The only cycle longs they had were women's. The jackets looked nice with a fold up "tail" at the back.
