My new winter bike has been stolen outside Bentalls in Kingston today. Thorn Audax Mk3 in British racing green, carbon fork, Ultegra groupset, rack and SKS mudguard on the rear only (hadn't installed on the front yet). Am fairly upset, I just built this up from the frame myself a little over a month ago. Thieves were kind enough to leave the cut lock cable on the rack. Sheesh.

Unfortunately this is a prime area for theivery. There were two shifty looking bokes carrying a lock around when I locked up there. I walked away and then watched from a distance as the checked my bike and tried to use their lock to jimmy mine open. I walked back calmly and tapped one on his head (Yes his head) and asked what the fnck he was doing? They claimed it was their bike!!! I walked over grabbed a copper and said tell him and the copper did nothing they just skulked off.

Well, live and learn. I usually take my beater bike for shopping in Kingston, but happened to be at home today before an afternoon flight for a business trip, and wanted to get a couple of good laps in in Richmond Park after a (brief, I thought) appointment with the optician. Instead I got an embarrassing cab ride home in my bike clothing.
  • Really sorry to hear that news matey. I hate it when I lose things or worse still when they are half inched. Eapecially given the work you put into it yourself :(
