I wonder if anyone can help with the best route up to Howland Street taking Lambeth Bridge as a starting point. I went via Northumberland Ave, Trafalgar Sq and Charing X Rd this morning which I'm sure can be done quicker so I'd welcome other options.
Here's what I had in mind. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2388303

And the return leg will not be possible back down the one ways so any tips there would help.

  • Tricky one that! I'd head across to Gower Street, down through covent garden to the Strand and go across the river at Embankment. But then there may be a good reason why you don't want to do that.

The one way systems round there are a right pain.
  • Whitehall was closed this morning, for obvious reasons.

I'd stick to the big orange route: over the bridge, turn right, past the HoP, up Whitehall, through Traf Sq, up Charing X Rd and TCR.

Return: down Gower Street, right at the bottom towards Cambridge Circus, but sneak the first left to Seven Dials. Straight over, follow it down to Traf Sq, then Whitehall to Lambeth Bridge.

    Easy.
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.
