Do I need my old speedo now?

The only feature it provides that the garmin does not is cadance but I think I can kind of use my mind for that.

I mean is the GPS signal going to fail and mess my results up? Just the speedo is making a mess, all the cables all over.

Garmin's not great on instant speed, would say keep your other bike computer there for cadence and that, always good to have a backup incase you forget to start it or something and dont know how far you have gone :S

Why not get a cadence sensor for the 605? Or is that not possible?

2 computers seems overkill to me - the accuracy of your 'current' speed isn't that critical or important is it?! Personally I think average speed is more important...

I have an Edge 705 and the speed and cadence sensor is excellent. It makes the speed reading as accurate as any computer, and as it reads speed from the rear wheel, it means it still works when in the turbo trainer etc.

It is a combined sensor that also picks up cadence from the cranks, and even has a little light on it that shows when it is picking up a reading for testing purposes, which makes it very easy to set up.

Well I was comparing the Garmin speed reading to my speedo, and it was almost the same, although I think the Garmin had a slight delay.

I have both Garmin and a cheap Cateye on all my bikes. I use the latter for speed, distance, etc. so I can dedicate the Garmin to the stuff it does best (heart rate, elevation, grade, in my case cadence, etc.) I prefer not to waste screen space on the Garmin for the stuff the Cateye can tell me.

The Garmin will only read speed from the wheel if it doesn't have a GPS signal, not that this really matters that much.

Good to have a basic computer too if you are using the navigation functions on the Garmin for example, where I would have the map and just two fields, distance to next and distance to dest.
