Hi, Please I need your advice again :D

I'd like to buy for xmas ladies bike, but my wife has back problem, so it need to be comfortable. It will be used casually, to go in the park with kids. I short listed 2 bikes which I like and think fit best for purpose and budget:

Trek Navigator 2 Equipped - £349

Specialized Globe Carmel 1 - £270 (plus I will need to buy mudguards)

1: Could you advise me which has better specifications?
2: Do you have an alternative option? (budget up to £350)

Many thanks!

  • Hmmmm sorry mate but i hate twist shift, but ya know ya usually get what you pay for so......
  • Hi Denys,

Sorry no alternatives but FWIW, I think the Trek offers a little more (covered by the larger price tag I guess). Suspension seat post will make the ride a bit more comfortable and it comes with mudguards and pannier rack, which might be useful.

If you're confident in replacing/adding parts then it might be possible to bring the Spec in for less.

Both look like they'll be suitable for the job you need it for. The Spec has a slightly (3cm) lower step over if that is a major concern.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for all replies!

So, does it mean that these two bikes are like for like.

What if we forget about mudguards and rack that goes with Trek, will Specialize be better choice or more comfortable?

I like these two bikes and cannot make my choice.

    As an option:
How about next model up of Specialized Globe Carmel 2, that costs £299, is it better than Trek?

    Thanks again

Please, could someone help me to compare parts of the bikes. I really not sure which one to choose?

Btw, thanks for two posts above.

Trek has the edge, I would go for that if the price difference isn't an issue.

The rear carrier will be a great asset, you would not notice any difference in the technical specification between the two bikes.
