Crank Brothers MXR Eggbeater...anyone own a pair?

I got a pair of these with my new bike and I've yet to use them, I've not yet graduated to clipless pedals! I do want to make the transition but I'm thinking I might be better selling these, due to the lack of platform (seeing as I'm a beginner) on the pedal and the poor reviews on MBR

Do any forum users own these pedals and what are your views on them?

  • I got a set of these too with my new Spesh Stumpy FSR, I tried them briefly at the weekend (my shoes are SPD compatable) and initial results are good, take a bit of getting used to. I could see for some light XC they would be pretty good, but for stuff where you have a lot of "foot faults" then I wouldn't be using them.

Practice getting your foot out against a wall before you leave home, otherwise you'll feel real silly the first time you stop at some red lights.
  • So do you reckon ones with platforms would be a better bet for all round riding?

Xtr spd's are far superior, have a nose here.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.
