Try a Wippermann 808 they are about £12 and as tough as old boots.

  • Chekc out the SRAM PC-951 (?), there is an 8 speed version in the PC-9xx series. SRAM make some pretty good chains and the powerlink is a great feature.

I would go for Sram for ease of use...

Try these. CRC has some Flood sale 8spd chains... if they are cleaned up they are fine, i just got two PC991. They are in tip top condition tbh.

I/d suggest sram too. 10 seconds and the thing is off...to easy :)
  • If your cassette is old-ish you might need a new one of those too. If I am right then your chain and cassette wear in together, so a new chain on an old cassette could skip about and not be ideal. Just a thought I had whilst reading this.

Yeah, thats exactly what I found.
  • Which is why you need to buy a Park tool chain checker for a fiver.Once the chain gets to 0.75 stretch stick a new one on,without wearing down your cassette.

Be careful though as a lot of new chains come very close to 0.75 stretch out of the box!
