Commuting clubs/trains

Has anyone come up with the idea of commuting clubs? i.e groups of riders going from fairly similar starting places meeting up to go to similar destinations. The idea being rather than playing 'silly commuting racing' (not that there is anything wrong with that) you can happily draft one another and may get to work a bit quicker and easily ...
