O.K so its coming round to changing my tyres, I have Kinesis Maxlight hardtail and currently im running Panaracer Cinders 2.1's, there is clearence for about a 2.25 tyre, would you reccomend going to this bigger size, and what advantages am I going to get, and also what disadvantages?

Cheers

for the coming months i would be staying with the 2.1's.

  • a larger tire should have better comfort and maybe grip if ground is hard. but as the ground is unlikely to be hard at this time of year, a larger tire is less likely to cut though mud/slime and more likely to clog in the frame if there isn't clearance.

hence the stick with the 2.1 size, advice. note also that tire sizes don't tend to match terribly closely to what they are labeled as. i have a pair of old 1.95 mud tires, they are barely 1.7 if that...
