Liability Insurance question. What / where?

Hi.
I'm entering a "Fun ride" tomorrow & on reading the small print I see:
"Each participant is responsible for providing their own insurance protection for their participation in the event. Payment of the Event Entry fee to XXX does not include any insurance protection for accident, sickness or negligence of any individual participant. Any accident or injury caused by the rider’s actions will be the full responsibility of said rider.
4. Each participant will be fully responsible for any fees or costs incurred or arising from an accident either involving or caused by the rider. This includes, but is not exclusive to, fees from Police, Air Ambulance, Fire and Rescue and the Ambulance service. If the situation arises that you are not capable of making the decision to call the emergency services, the rider agrees that a member of XXX or a member of the public may call for them. In this situation, the rider still accepts the costs and consequences of such actions."

So what rider insurance should one have to cover unforeseen occurances such as the above both on & off-road? Both as compeditor & just fun rider?

Who does one take out cyclist liability/ emergency expence insurance through?

Thanks.

Thanks for that. Good start as it seems their "Everyday Cycling Membership" would cater for the "insurance protection" & legal assistance part of it.

Still looking for something that would cover potential "fees or costs incurred or arising from an accident either involving or caused by the rider. This includes, but is not exclusive to, fees from Police, Air Ambulance, Fire and Rescue and the Ambulance service."

Any ideas? Would be nice to get an all-in-one deal.

Would've thought that this would be covered by third party liability insurance through British Cycling, Everydaycycling (BC's leisure rides venture) or Cyclist Touring Club?

    From Everydaycycling's website:
Insurance cover for cycling activities - third party liability insurance is an integral part of the Everyday Cycling membership package that provides members with important insurance cover with an indemnity limit of 10 million GBP and with no 'excess'. Protecting you from the financial consequences of a claim made against you following a cycling accident that was wholly or partly your fault. This essential member benefit covers non-competitive, social, leisure and utility cycling worldwide.

I guess the "financial consequences of a claim made against you following a cycling accident that was wholly or partly your fault" could be read as a financial "claim" (read bill/ request) for payment by e.g. emergency services....
I was looking at it just from a liability perspective. e.g. being sued for damages.
