Hi all, just wondering if there is any good places to take the new mountain bike I will be getting around Essex. I used to ride around Thornden which is close to me but didnt find it all that exciting..I've heard places around Danbury arent bad and some others (cant remember where they are). So please tell me which places you like MTBing around Essex region.
Thanks
Sean

    Hi Sean,

I ride about 70-80 miles a week around Thorndon, most riders seem to miss most of the best trails. There are plenty of trails in Kents Wood, Hartswood, Donkey Lane Plantation, Holdens Wood and Warley Gap.

If you want me to show you round let me know.

Alternatively, getting out there and having a guided tour will help improve your fitness.

    I may also do that.

I get worried that I would hold every one up.
  • I might be up for that sometime soon. I'm fairly new to the area so don't know my way round that well and I've so far struggled to link together a decent loop round Thorndon without taking in loads of fireroads. Went to Warley Gap a few weeks ago too and had a little play on the jumps but didn't really find much else, am I missing something?

  • Thanks for the replies everyone, very helpful, I'll look round Thorndon more in future and possibly check out some other places mentioned in the thread.
