Hi,

Could someone tell me if these sprockets will work with a 9 speed chain?...

I have been using an old mtb cassette sprocket but its worn out. Been a long time since i rode single speed and loving it again so hope someone can help!

Thanks!

No they won't. 3/32" is 8 speed size, 9 speed chains don't sit on them properly.

    yes they will.

the width is the same internally.

Damn. I was sure that hadn't worked when I tried it, but on checking, I once again have to bow down to the all-knowing Nick.

Well i've just ordered one so it better fit!

As far as i knew, 1/8 was bmx width and 3/32 was mtb/road chain width...right?

1/8 single speed and 3/32 derailleur geared NOMINAL INTERNAL width.

Iv'e ran 3/32" chain on 1/8" chainring with no problems and a 1/8" chain on 3/32" sprocket.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
